The Humane Society of York County is a no-kill shelter founded in 1976 dedicated to the humane treatment of animals. We are located in Fort Mill, South Carolina, and principally serve the surrounding counties of Mecklenburg, York, and Chester Counties, among others. We offer a low-cost spay/neuter clinic and are presently able to house approximately 50 cats and 50 dogs. All animals receive necessary medical treatment and are up-to-date on their vaccinations. During 2003, we took in and placed more than 1,100 animals, one at a time. We need to be able to do much more.

The Humane Society educates people about how to care for the animals, lobbies for tougher animal abuse laws, rescues abused and neglected animals and spays and neuters as many animals as possible. We then find these animals a new family to love.

We desperately need to expand our facility to include indoor/outdoor runs, an enclosed play area, our own spay/neuter clinic, and other amenities. Our spay/neuter clinic and most medical treatment is currently provided free of charge by a local vet.

We receive no funds from the national or state Humane Societies or from local government. We rely solely on funds and supplies donated by caring individuals and businesses.

Thank you for your support.
