| Sisters of Color United for Education is a 20-year old community based, non-profit organization which provides a broad range of youth & adult healthcare education-based services "free of charge";all services are offered in Spanish and English.
Sisters primary educational service is the Promotora Program which is a 52-hour training program for men, women and youth to become trusted health messengers/advocates in their community regarding *life-threatening health issues such as: *HIV/AIDS *Heart (Cardio) Health *Diabetes *Domestic Violence *Suicide Prevention Amongst Latina Youth *Alcohol & Drug(Substance)Abuse *Depression *Teen Pregnancy *Sexual Assault In 2010, Sisters vision is the construction of a wheelchair ramp in June to better serve its participants, to become a "green" organization to provide an eco-friendly environment, to build a "Community Heart Health Teaching Kitchen" for community members to learn how to prepare healthy, quality/affordable meals and to sustain/expand its educational services and programs. |
